Scott R. Froehlich is a contemporary American artist based in Texas. Inspired by the beauty of the natural world, Scott's paintings often showcase landscapes, provide visual spaces to explore, and invite reflection. Whether painting in his McKinney, Texas studio or outdoors at scenic locations, he primarily paints with acrylic, oil, or soft pastels on archival surfaces for permanence and richness.
My work creates modern impressions of place and spirit, exploring landscape, abstraction, and minimalism through dynamic layering and techniques that blend representation and abstraction. Working primarily in acrylic, as well as oil and pastel, I create pieces that range from vibrant, energetic compositions to serene, neutral-toned works that invite contemplation.
Each canvas evolves through multiple sessions, building character and luminosity that capture the essence of places, memories, and experiences. The interplay between surface texture, perceptual depth, and varied levels of definition encourages viewers to engage their own interpretations – evolving with time and repeated viewings.
Recent series have focused on large-scale works showcasing the interplay between color, texture, and perception. From expansive, color-rich landscapes to understated minimal compositions, these pieces reflect the nuanced ways we experience and remember moments and connect with our surroundings.

"Scott Froehlich is creating painted scenes that instill wonder and excitement in the viewer. I recently bought two paintings I decided I couldn’t live without. One of the paintings is a red cardinal…and he’s looking at me! I decided he needed to be in my house so I could look back at him!! He’s absolutely gorgeous, and actually looks as if he could fly off the painting!
Another painting I saw on his website has the most beautiful pink and blue sky flowing down into the water. I felt as if I wanted to be where this painting took me…looking at the sky as I floated along in the water. The dreamy feeling of the clouds contrast with the darker depth of the water. It feels ethereal, with an endless sky that could take the viewer anywhere they might want to go.
Scott’s website is one I will come back to time and time again…just to see what surprises he has to offer."
